SPRINGFIELD MAYOR AND ENTIRE CITY COUNCIL COME OUT FOR CANDARAS

Springfield, MA - In a show of solidarity and confidence in her record as a legislator, Springfield Mayor Michael J. Albano and all nine members of the Springfield city council have endorsed State Representative Gale D. Candaras. She has served three terms in the Massachusetts House, representing the 12th Hampden District, which is comprised of Springfield, (6D,F, H and 7B,C, D, E, F, H) East Longmeadow (precincts 1 and 2) and the entire Town of Wilbraham.

Mayor Albano credits Candaras as being a "rising star in the legislature and a strong leader for Springfield and her entire district at the State House."

“The members of the City Council know and appreciate the hard work and Gale is doing for her district and the city of Springfield,” stated Springfield City Councilor Angelo Puppolo. “We all feel she should be sent back to Boston to fight for our City.”

Councilor Domenic J. Sarno issued the following statement with his endorsement of Representative Candaras, “Gale combines intelligence, toughness, and compassion when working for her constituents and on the issues that are important to the Springfield area. I’ve known Gale a long time and have been as supporter since her first election. It is a privilege to call her my State Representative, and also my friend.”

“The support of the Mayor and the entire City Council is a tremendous honor. In the redistricting process, I fought hard to represent a larger portion of Springfield because I realize the central role that the city plays in the economic vitality of Hampden County. I have said it time and again, as Springfield goes, so goes the outlying communities” said Candaras.

Candaras has also been endorsed by U.S. Representative Richard Neal, Hampden County Sheriff Michael Ashe, Hampden County District Attorney William Bennett, Springfield School Committee member Tom Ashe, East Longmeadow Selectmen Gary DeLisle and Sue Grimaldi, Wilbraham Selectmen Dave Barry and Jim Thompson, and Sister Mary Caritas. The organizations that have endorsed Candaras are The State Police Association of Massachusetts, Boston Carmen’s Union Local 589, The Massachusetts Nurses Association, Massachusetts AFL-CIO, SEIU, and The Springfield Union News.

The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5th.
