CANDARAS HONORED BY PRESTIGIOUS WOMEN'S GROUP
Wilbraham – State Representative Gale D. Candaras (D-Wilbraham) was presented
a special General Federation of Women’s Club International Award by Western
District Director Irene Gendron at the Selectmen’s Office in Wilbraham,
while Linda Moreno, President of the Wilbraham Women’s Club extended congratulations
to Representative Candaras, a 10-year member of the Wilbraham Women’s
Club.
At the General Federation of Women’s Club 110th International Convention held in St. Paul, Minnesota the General Federation of Women’s Club awarded a special Certificate of Recognition to Massachusetts State Representative Gale Candaras for her advocacy and support for the passage of “Sandy’s Law”, an Act which criminalizes stalking behavior that is not accompanied by an overt threat. This new law sets the standard for criminal harassment as “willfully and maliciously engaging in a knowing pattern of conduct or series of acts over a period of time directed at a specific person which seriously alarms that person and would cause the person to suffer substantial emotional distress.”
The award was made in acknowledgement of Candaras’ Outstanding Citizenship and Public Service as an elected Government Representative who is ‘Making a Difference!’
