CANDARAS ANNOUCES TAG SALE FUNDRAISER FOR WILBRAHAM SENIOR VAN

Wilbraham – State Representative Gale D. Candaras announced today that “The Woods of Wilbraham” residents will be holding a benefit tag sale at Gazebo Park, located on Main Street, on Sunday, July 8, 2001, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help the Friends of Wilbraham Seniors raise funds to purchase a senior van for Wilbraham.

The Friends of Wilbraham Seniors officially launched their senior van drive campaign at a “kick off” event held at Orchard Valley at Wilbraham on June 28, 2001. The group’s goal is to raise $40,000 to purchase a new senior van for Wilbraham’s senior citizens. “There is a great need in the senior community for a senior van. So many seniors cannot drive at night and so much of our community life takes place in the evening that they are, unfortunately, excluded from participating. A senior van, properly equipped is very expensive and we could probably use several, I’m sure,” claims Candaras. The Representative added, “I really want to applaud the community in its effort to assist the Friends of Wilbraham Seniors with this campaign. Sharon Mappin, one of the pioneers of ‘The Woods’, took charge and organized this upcoming tag sale, which really show the extraordinary community spirit we have here in Wilbraham.”

Parking for the benefit tag sale will be located in Crane Park lot at the rear of Gazebo Park. Individuals wishing to make donations for the tag sale or needing further information should contact Sharon Mappin at (413) 599-6663.
