President Obama issues
Disaster Declaration
"Today
President Obama issued a major disaster
declaration for the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts. This declaration will clear
the way for federal assitance for
homeowners, businesses and municipalities
affected by the June 1 tornadoes and storms.
My office will be working with residents and
the appropriate agencies to ensure this aid
get to those who most need it in Western

Tornado Relief Information
The
Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency
has opened Three Storm Assistance Centers to
consolidate all available services in one
place. Representatives from state agencies
will be on site to help residents meet their
immediate health, human service, housing and
employment needs. These centers are located

Emergency Shelters
The Red
Cross is operating emergency shelters at the
following locations:
MassMutual Center,
1277 Main Street, Springfield, for families
with children and people who are medically
compromised.
Friends of the Homeless shelter,
769 Worthington Street, Springfield, for
individuals.
Debris
Removal Information
Springfield residents are encouraged to
place all tree debris on the tree belt for
pick up. Small building materials should be
placed in bags or barrels and placed curb
side. Pick up dates and times are not
specific.
